WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) urged the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to take into consideration the unique needs of disabled veterans as they implement President Trump’s recent executive order requiring all executive branch employees to return to working full-time in person.

“A blanket application of this order to all federal personnel, without considering exemptions for those who have extenuating circumstances, could force disabled veterans out of the federal workforce altogether. This could create unnecessary financial instability for people who have served our country admirably,” Senator Gallego wrote.

“We owe a sacred debt to our nation’s veterans,” he continues. “A heavy-handed implementation of this executive order would fail to honor the sacrifice that so many disabled veterans have made for this country. To that end, I urge you to exempt disabled veterans from this executive order.”
